Arts and Craft, Music
Arts and Crafts lessons are part of the timetable from grade 1. When choosing an activity, teachers follow IPC units in order to provide cross-curricular opportunities. Seasons, important dates also inspire the creations children produce. The small groups of students allows us to pay attention to each and every child. In Grade 1, 2 and 3 our aims are to establish self-esteem and self-confidence, expand aesthetic awareness, begin the study of art heritage, discuss design ideas and techniques, use a variety of materials to create art (acrylic, watercolour, clay etc), use personal experiences as subject matter in artwork, communicate feelings about art.
Musical education is particularly dominant in lower school. Following the International Primary Curriculum in music lessons allows us to apply more holistic methodologies and emphasise the importance of personal learning goals. In Grade 1 and 2 focus is placed rhythm patterns, notating pitch, different families and types of instruments and also singing and playing music together. Our mission is to make music endearing to children and to encourage the pupils to be more open-minded concerning music styles, intercultural and traditional music.
