Science, History

At the Szeged International Primary School, students begin studying History and Science from Grade 5, with the same number of lessons as in state schools.

From Grade 7 onwards, these subjects are taught separately as Geography, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.

However, even our youngest learners in Preschool are introduced to historical and scientific concepts through engaging and age-appropriate activities. These topics are an integral part of the IPC (International Primary Curriculum) units such as Time Travellers, Explainers and Inventors, Active Planet, and Habitats, which offer hands-on, experience-based learning about past events, natural phenomena, and the foundations of scientific thinking.

As students progress into the upper grades, the IMYC (International Middle Years Curriculum) units further develop this knowledge with an interdisciplinary approach.

A popular extracurricular activity at our school is the Science Club, where students of all ages can explore the wonders of science through fun and exciting experiments. It’s a great opportunity for both younger and older students to nurture their curiosity and deepen their understanding of the scientific world in a playful, hands-on way.
