Welcome to the renewed website of the Szeged International Primary School!
As an introduction, we would like to give a brief overview of our school, which was established by the Kalocsai Krisztina Foundation (formerly Mosolygó Arc Alapítvány) in 2017. From July 2023 the project was taken over by the Szeged International Education Center Nonprofit LLC.
Szeged International Primary School (Szeged IPS) is one of the institutions in which education is taught according to the topic-oriented curricula developed by the internationally recognized International Curriculum Association, mainly using project-based teaching methodology. In our institution, we use the IPC (International Primary Curriculum) and IMYC (International Middle Years Curriculum) curricula used in hundreds of schools around the world. The subjects are taught taking into account the requirements of the Hungarian national core curriculum (NAT) too. The teaching of the Hungarian language as a whole takes place along the lines of the Mozaik books - also in accordance with the requirements of the Hungarian national core curriculum - thus ensuring transferability to Hungarian state institutions.
With the exception of Hungarian language and literature, all subjects are taught in English and are tailored for each student. Our school welcomes children from the age of 5 as we currently have a preschool group. Here, children can get to know the IPC curriculum in a playful way with the help of the international curriculum developed for students aged 5-11, which is used up to the 5th grade.
For the students in the 6th grade and higher, we provide the IMYC curriculum, a topic-focused, cooperation-based education program tailored to children aged 12-14.
We start one class per year, the average class has 8 students. The maximum number of students in a class is 15.
An important characteristic of our school is that it provides its students with an international certificate in English.
When it comes to our schedule, we welcome our students from 07:45. For schoolchildren, classes last from 8:50 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., which includes the daily study period in the first 5 grades. Students can also take part in afternoon classes, extracurricular lessons, and preparation for secondary school entrance exams from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Students have the opportunity to participate in various music, fine arts and sports activities during the afternoon period. Our school also provides an opportunity to learn two foreign languages, Chinese and French.
A smaller playground is located in the inner courtyard of the school and a larger playground is located in front of the building. They provide excellent opportunities for play, and a gymnasium is also available for students. Our institution strives to provide its students with an environment that teaches children to learn, ensures that they can enjoy learning, and motivates them to believe that learning can be a lifelong journey.
