Preschool
Our Preschool welcomes children from the age of 5.
In the Hungarian system, this corresponds to the final year of kindergarten, the so-called "nagycsoport", although our program differs from the traditional one.
Children who continue their education in our upper primary grades benefit most from the IPS Preschool, as they are able to continue both the IPC program and their English language development seamlessly. However, families who plan to enroll their children in state schools often choose to spend this year at Szeged IPS so that their child’s English skills and academic foundation are solidly established.
Assessment
Children are not graded in preschool. Instead, they receive written evaluations twice a year in the form of a report outlining their progress and performance. The results of the DIFER (Diagnostic Assessment of Development) tests, conducted twice a year, are included in their overall assessment.
Subjects Taught:
- English
English language instruction in our preschool focuses on developing cultural awareness and communication skills. While children do not yet learn to read and write fluently, they become familiar with the capital letters of the English alphabet and practice writing them.
Apart from Preparatory lessons, all subjects are taught in English, with strong emphasis placed on vocabulary, grammar, and communication development. -
IPC (International Primary Curriculum)
IPC is an internationally recognized educational program that uses a project-based learning approach. Children begin their IPC journey in preschool with Milepost 1, which covers key foundational subjects such as:-

- Preparatory
The focus of the preparatory program is on developing the foundational skills and abilities essential for primary school. Hand-eye coordination, mathematical and logical thinking are developed through diverse topics and methods. These sessions take place in both English and Hungarian to ensure full understanding. -
Physical Education
Movement and exercise are also considered essential. Children use the school’s gym two to three times per week.
Extracurricular Activities
During the day, preschoolers are given plenty of time to play outdoors and can choose from a variety of extracurricular activities. This year’s options include chess, football, and multisport.
Teachers
Our dedicated preschool teachers, Csanád and Ildikó, are beloved by the children—and it's no surprise to fellow teachers and parents why. Their work is supported by a kind and caring teaching assistant.
The average number of children in our preschool (school preparation group) is 20.
