International Primary Curriculum - ICA

I would put a polished, parent-facing section like this on the website:

International Curriculum Association (ICA)

At Szeged International Primary School, international education is not simply an extra element of school life — it is at the heart of how we teach and learn.

We follow the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC), both developed by the International Curriculum Association (ICA). The ICA supports schools around the world in delivering high-quality international education built around meaningful learning, personal development and international-mindedness.

For our younger students, the IPC provides a thematic, inquiry-based approach in which subjects are connected through engaging units of learning. Children develop not only knowledge, but also important skills such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking, independence and curiosity. Learning is designed to be relevant and connected to real life, helping students understand both their own world and the perspectives of others.

For our older students, the IMYC builds on this approach with deeper conceptual learning and multidisciplinary “Big Ideas”. It is specifically designed for the needs of students aged 11–14 and supports them as they become more independent, reflective and confident learners.

At Szeged IPS, we combine these international programmes with the Hungarian National Curriculum (NAT). This allows our students to benefit from the strong foundations of the Hungarian education system while also experiencing a modern, project-based and internationally minded approach to learning.

Our goal is not only to prepare students academically, but also to help them become confident thinkers, effective communicators, responsible collaborators and open-minded young people who are ready to learn and succeed in an international environment.

For us, international education means much more than learning in English. It means encouraging children to ask questions, make connections, understand different perspectives and develop the skills they will need far beyond the classroom.
